What is ISTQB®?
International Software Testing Qualifications Board, ISTQB®, was founded in November 2002 and is a not-for-profit association legally registered in Belgium. ISTQB® has defined the “ISTQB® Certified Tester” scheme that has become the world-wide leader in the certification of competences in software testing. It is an organization based on volunteer work by hundreds of international testing professionals.
Is the Foundation Level Right For Me?
There are three ISTQB certification levels, Foundation, Advanced and Expert. They each build upon each other. The Foundation Level qualification is targeted towards professionals that need to demonstrate practical knowledge of the fundamental concepts of software testing. This includes people in roles such as test designers, test analysts, test engineers, test consultants, test managers, user acceptance testers, and IT professionals.
Am I ready for the Foundation Level?
It is suggested that candidates for the Foundation Level certification have at least six months practical experience in a professional testing role.

How many people are certified?
As of September 2012, there are more than 265,000 certifications that have been issued by the ISTQB – covering more than 70 countries. There are approximately 10,000 new certifications issued every quarter. 88.5% of the certifications issued are the Foundation Level. ISTQB® Certified Tester is the most widespread qualification scheme in the world, and the syllabi contents and glossary have become the de facto industry reference for the software testing profession.
TCT has chosen to license courseware with a proven track record. Created by one of the founding members of the Foundation Level certification, over 90% of the students who have taken the public course, pass the certification exam, compared to approximately 80% for other courses. Combined with TCT’s recognized superior quality education, this course will put you in a good position to achieve ISTQB® certification!
I have heard of ASTQB®. What is the difference between ISTQB® and ASTQB®?
